Julie joined APPRECOTS in 2024 as a Research Associate. Her career has included work in academic, community, non-profit, and health payer settings. Prior to APPRECOTS, she worked in applied research at Wayne State University to implement and evaluate programs in mental health, substance use, and criminal justice. Her dissertation research focused on post-traumatic growth after burn injury, and more broadly her interests lie in promoting growth, resilience, and hope in the face of adversity. Julie also teaches at Wayne State University in the School of Social Work and the Department of Public Health. She earned her PhD in Social Work from Wayne State University and her BA in Near Eastern Studies from University of Michigan.
