WHAT DOES AN APPRECOTS MOTIVATIONAL INTERVIEWING WORKSHOP INCLUDE?

A basic Motivational Interviewing (MI) workshop is two full days of participation in an interactive classroom environment. The essential constructs of MI are introduced, explained, reviewed, and practiced within alternating large- and small-group activities.

Essential constructs of MI include:

  • Understanding the “spirit” of MI, including collaboration, acceptance, evocation, and compassion.

  • Using listening skills - such as open-ended questions, affirmations, reflections, and summaries - to guide motivational conversations.

  • Eliciting, recognizing, and reinforcing positive change talk.

  • Navigating the distinct phases of an MI process: Engaging, Focusing, Evoking, and Planning

APPRECOTS has three team members who are active members of a network of Motivational Interviewing professionals. For training information, email MI@apprecots.com.
